Telemedicine is HERE!

As of March 24, 2020, Tarrant county has been put under a “Stay at Home” order due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Kane Hall Barry Neurology is considered an “essential business” and will continue to care for our patients.  We recognize the importance of social distancing and the need for patients to receive the care they need without increased risk of infection.  Therefore, we are offering two telemedicine options to meet our patient’s needs.

PLEASE KNOW – if your need is urgent and cannot be delayed, or a virtual visit would not meet your needs, please let our staff know.  Doctors will be available for in office visits as needed.  Our infusion suite will remain open as it is considered critical to patient care. Botox treatments will also be continued in office as it is considered critical to patient care.

What are telemedicine appointments?  Telemedicine apointments are visits where you can discuss your concerns with your provider in the comfort of your home.  We are offering two options for telemedicine appointments – Telephone Visits and Virtual Visits.

A Telephone Visit is conducted over the telephone, by appointment.  A staff member will call you, verify your identity, and gather key information.  The doctor or nurse practitioner will then speak with you to develop your care plan.  Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed.

A Virtual Visit is conducted using a camera enabled device such as a smart phone or computer.  For this visit we will send you a link and instructions to join your visit via text.  You will click on the link provided, select your doctor’s name, and enter the provided code.  At that time you will be able to see your provider, discuss your concerns, and develop a care plan.  Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed. Click here to see what your check in will look like.

Which type of visit should I pick?  You can pick the appointment type that will be the easiest for you to keep.  We realize not all of our patients are tech savvy, and not all have access to a smart phone or computer.  Please chose the option that you are most  comfortable with.

Who is eligible for a telemedicine appointment?  All current Kane Hall Barry Neurology patients. We can also see new patients with Medicare or state regulated plans.  State regulated plans include:

  • Plans that have “TDI” or “DOI” on the ID card (see examples)
  • Short-term insurance, disability plans, and other limited benefit plans

When are telemedicine appointments available? Telemedicine appointments are available during normal business hours, which are Monday – Friday 8am-5pm.

Which providers offer telemedicine appointments?  All of our providers are offering Telephone Visits, and our MD’s will be offering Virtual Visits.

What will the visit cost? We will only collect your copay or coinsurance for now – just like an in-office visit.  We will then file with the insurance company for the remainder of the amount due.  Most insurance plans allow telemedicne visits under the Texas Medical Board and Trump administration waiver. Our top priority is the health and safety of our patients and staff and these are unprecedented times.  If you do not have insurance, we will treat this as any other in-office follow up visit which range from $145 to $195.
