How to join your telemedicine visit

Kane Hall Barry Neurology offers telemedicine (audio / video) appointments to provide flexibility to patients in obtaining care and enhancing overall experience. This convenient service allows you to consult with your physician from the comfort of your home. During a telemedicine visit, our providers may order tests, interpret results, prescribe or adjust medications, and update treatment plans if appropriate. While some visits can be conducted via telemedicine, many still need to be in person either due to the nature of the concerns or due to insurance coverage considerations.  

Join Your Telemedicine Visit

You should have received a confirmation email and a text message reminder 15 minutes before the start of your appointment. Both the email and text message will have the link for you to join your telemedicine appointment. If you have not received a link either by text or email, you can login to the patient portal, athenahealth, to join your visit or call our office at (817)267-6290 to have a new link sent to you via text or email.

You do not need to download any apps to join your telehealth visit. Once you click the link, your browser will open.

After you have clicked the link and accepted the terms and conditions, you will be prompted to allow athenahealth to access your mic, camera, and speakers. Click ‘yes.’

You will then be placed in our virtual waiting room. A staff member will join the virtual visit to collect any payment due and to check you in. You will then be placed back in the virtual waiting room until the doctor is ready to see you. Do not exit out of the waiting room or you will have to re-do the process to join. Wait for your provider in the virtual waiting room and you will see their video when they join. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, call our office at (817)267-6290.

FAQ's

Telemedicine is the use of audio and video technology to provide care to patients in the comfort of their home.  Kane Hall Barry conducts virtual visits online and does not require you to download any apps to join your telehealth appointment.

A Virtual Visit is conducted using a camera and microphone enabled device such as a smart phone or computer.  For this visit we will send you a link and instructions to join your visit via text or email.  You may also login to your patient portal, athenahealth, to access your link to join. At that time, you will be able to see your provider, discuss your concerns, and develop a care plan.  Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed. 

A Telephone Visit is conducted over the telephone, by appointment.  A staff member will contact you to begin the visit.  The doctor or nurse practitioner will then speak with you to develop your care plan.  Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed.

Most insurance companies cover telemedicine visits just like an in-office visit. While our business office will attempt to verify your benefits prior to the appointment, it is important for you to understand your insurance coverage.

Telemedicine appointments are available during normal business hours, which are Monday – Friday 8am-5pm by appointment only.

All our providers are offering Telemedicine appointments for the continuity of your care. 

We will only collect your copay or coinsurance for now – just like an in-office visit.  We will then file with the insurance company for the remainder of the amount due.  If you do not have insurance, we will treat this like any other in-office visit.  New patient visits range from $200-$300, follow up visits range from $145 to $195.

Your data will not be shared with any third parties and your appointment with the provider will remain confidential. Our practice performs telehealth appointments through athenahealth to ensure security and to adhere to HIPAA guidelines. You can rest assured that your information will not be shared unless expressed, written permission is granted by you.  It is important that you find a private area for your visit.
