Kane Hall Barry Neurology offers telemedicine (audio / video) appointments to provide flexibility to patients in obtaining care and enhancing overall experience. This convenient service allows you to consult with your physician from the comfort of your home or any other place remotely. During a telemedicine visit, our providers may order tests, interpret results, prescribe or adjust medications, and update treatment plans if appropriate. While most visits can be conducted via telemedicine, some still need to be in person either due to the nature of the concerns or due to insurance coverage considerations.
FAQs
What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is the use of audio and video technology to provide care to patients in the comfort of their home or at a distance. We are offering two options for telemedicine appointments – Virtual Visits and Telephone Visits. Kane Hall Barry uses “Doxy” software, a browser based platform to perform virtual visits.
A Virtual Visit is conducted using a camera and microphone enabled device such as a smart phone or computer. For this visit we will send you a link and instructions to join your visit via text or email. You will click on the link provided, select your doctor’s name, and enter the provided code. At that time you will be able to see your provider, discuss your concerns, and develop a care plan. Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed. A Telephone Visit is conducted over the telephone, by appointment. A staff member will call you, verify your identity, and gather key information. The doctor or nurse practitioner will then speak with you to develop your care plan. Prescriptions and tests can be ordered if needed.
Which type of visit should i pick?
You can pick the appointment type that will be the easiest for you to keep. Many patients have said they prefer a telemedicine visit when it is for a routine follow-up, to request a prescription refill, or simply because it is convenient. We realize not all of our patients are tech savvy, and not all have access to a smart phone or computer, and sometimes a telephone visit is the best option to reduce risk of exposure and still allow for routine care. Please choose the option with which you are most comfortable.
