POSITION TITLE: Patient Access Specialist I

STATUS: Non- Exempt

REPORTS TO: Patient Access Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Responsible for creating a positive, welcoming, and warm environment
for our patients. Customer service focused, enjoys being part of a collaborative team, and working in a
fast- paced environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide initial customer service experience to all patients and visitors, by greeting them in a
warm and welcoming manner
• Create patient charts by entering demographics and insurance information.
• Facilitate appointment scheduling.
• Facilitate patient check ins and check outs.
• Handle patient payments.
• Answers and routes phone calls to other departments.
• Assist referral coordinators including uploading referral documents as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Other job duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience in a customer service related role preferred
• 1 – 2 years hospital admissions / physician office experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
