Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

POSITION TITLE: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I
STATUS: Non- Exempt
REPORTS TO: Clinical Support Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS: N/A
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Focuses on providing numerous direct patient care services, performs
medical back office assigned duties, and assist providers with minor office procedures under their direct
supervision. Has the ability to work in a fast- paced environment, quick learner, self-motivated and
dedicated to providing excellent and friendly care to patients and support to our team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparing patients for examination visit by performing general preliminary patient care and
reporting abnormalities to the provider.
• Preparing and keeping patient exam rooms and equipment stocked, orderly, clean and sanitized.
• Updating patient medical history and records into EMR system(s).
• Drawing and collecting patient blood samples and preparing specimens for pick up.
• Assisting provider with preparing injectable medications such as CTS, peri-cranial, and Botox
injections.
• May administer ordered medications via injection.
• Communicating test results and plan of care with patient by phone, mail, patient portal or in
person as directed by the provider.
• Processing and completing Prior Authorizations.
• Scheduling patient appointments.
• Other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Must be an active Certified Medical Assistant with a CCMA, NRCMA license.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work
experience.
• Must be up to date on CPR training.
• Experience with EMR systems.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, NOT REQUIRED:
• At least one (1) year of related experience in a Neurological setting a BIG PLUS!
• One (1) year of previous Certified Medical Assistant experience working in a specialty medical
office.
• Ability to communicate effectively and handle multiple priorities.
• Strong computer and typing skills.
