POSITION TITLE: Authorization Coordinator

STATUS: Non- Exempt
REPORTS TO: Clinical Support Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS: N/A
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Responsible for obtaining pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for
procedures and medications, transcribes and triages patient calls to physicians, coordinates patient
appointments/ orders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits, and requirements.
• Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for
medical and services.
• Request, follow up and secure prior authorizations prior to services being performed.
• Obtain signed financial agreements and collect patient financial responsibilities.
• Request necessary documentation from referring providers and patients
• Assist with management of medical records, faxing, and scanning documentation
• Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized
documentation requirements, including proper format.
• Other job duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include superior interpersonal and patient
contact skills and excellent telephone manners.
• General knowledge of office procedures, equipment, and comprehensive computer skills.
• Work under minimal supervision and effectively in a team environment.


ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, NOT REQUIRED:
• At least one (1) year of related experience in a Neurological setting
• Certified Medical Assistant or willing to obtain.
• Strong computer and typing skills
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
