POSITION TITLE: EEG Technologist

STATUS: Non- Exempt

REPORTS TO: END Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Responsible for performing electroencephalograph (EEG) and other
neurodiagnostic examinations according to physician’s orders under the supervision of the department
manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reviews physician’s orders/ referring documents report from previous appointments.
• Prepares patients for procedures; explains procedure, measures for accurate electrode sites,
applies electrodes and adjusts as appropriate.
• Performs all test procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Monitors and records patient’s reaction to specific activities such as breathing directions or the
introduction of various stimuli, in a thorough and accurate manner.
• Summarizes patient’s neurologic status and clinical history from the chart, patient, or other
persons. Explains recording procedure to patient and family members.
• Cleans and maintains equipment in good operating condition. Performs minor maintenance and
repair of lab equipment, as needed, and promptly reports the need for major repair to the
appropriate party.
• Other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Associates Degree or 2 years of work experience
• Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (preferred)
• BLS certification
• Basic understanding of neuroanatomy and physiology, neurodiagnostic instrumentation, pattern
recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the
neurodiagnostic recording.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include superior interpersonal and patient
contact skills, excellent telephone manner, and strong computer skills.
• Work under minimal supervision and can remain calm and exercise good judgment in stressful
situations.
