POSITION TITLE: Infusion Nurse (RN)

STATUS: Non- Exempt

REPORTS TO: Practice Administrator

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Responsible for providing safe direct and indirect nursing care in a
compassionate manner.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Completes patient assessment.
• Implement physician orders including administration of infused or injectable medication.
• Educate patients regarding infused biologic medications.
• Monitor patient responses.
• Completes required patient care documentation in a timely manner.
• Works independently in managing patient needs and manages time effectively in a fast- paced
environment.
• Prepare and mix certain drugs for safe medication administration.
• Assists with managing and ordering infusion supplies and medications.
• Ability to work with a wide range of personality types.
• Assist with training of newly hired nurses, when needed, and assist Infusion Coordinators as
needed.
• Other job duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or associate’s degree in nursing
• Current Active TX state license
• Current CPR certification
• 3 years nursing experience, which should include acute or clinical specialty involving infusion
therapy, ambulatory infusion, and/ or home infusion environment recommended.
• Strong venous access skills, independent in PIV placement and care.
• Maintains knowledge and proficiency of infused biologic medications and current infusion
practices through continuing education.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of infusion pumps.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include superior interpersonal and patient
contact skills, excellent telephone manner, and strong computer skills.
• Work under minimal supervision and can remain calm and exercise good judgment in stressful
situations.
• Experience and understanding of ICD10, CPT codes, and infusion insurance benefits knowledge
are helpful.
